Dorm Show

Since we've lived together, my three roommates and I have always been experimenting with with our dorm space to see how much fun we could have with it. The four of us live in a semi-suite, featuring two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a tiny common area. We immediately found the default furniture arrangement(below left) unsatisfactory and quickly made arrangements(below right) to make our space more efficiently organized, opening up one of the two rooms as an open space.

The uses of this space have ranged from different film sets to a movie viewing room to a gaming room.

In October, I was inspired to draft a simple three point plan on our whiteboard that would make an even more interesting use of our the space. The other three guys quickly came onboard with the plan.

Start a band. Have a show. Talk about how cool it was. If we could do this, it would be our ultimate creative misuse of a college dorm room. It took six months from the inception of this plan to the show itself, in which time we built a collapsible stage, played with a lot of songs, and practiced both a lot and also not enough. It was all worth it. On May 2, 2015 at 8:24 PM, the four of us emerged from a tiny closet before an audience of about 20, and so began step 2.

Check out this album of more photographs from the event taken by our wonderful friend Collin.

No time was wasted afterwards to begin step 3, which continues indefinitely.
